Fun Twist on a Traditional Flower Bouquet
It’s my 5 year old niece’s big dance recital. For plays and recitals you usually bring flowers, but does a 5 year old really appreciate a bouquet of flowers…or would she really love a bouquet of candy? I thought a candy bouquet would be a fun twist on the traditional flower bouquet. I chose an assortment of candy = assortment of colors and sizes. I think it might also be cool to have candy all in one color…but unfortunately I didn’t have time to be that creative. I picked out fun tissue and ribbon and bought wood dowels (colorful paper straws might also work) to attach the candy to. I taped the candy to the wood dowels and arranged them in a bouquet. The bouquet seemed a bit unwieldy because some of the candy boxes were a bit heavy. I decided to add white poster board behind the candy to keep the candy in place. I wanted to add more color to the white cardboard and make it look a bit more polished, so I wrapped the cardboard with printed tissue paper. For extra security I taped some of the wood dowels to the poster board.
I’m glad I did because it would have all been on the floor when I passed it to her if it hadn’t been secured to the board. To personalize the bouquet I added a note on the large lollipop in the center of the candy bouquet.
Once all the candy was in place and secure, I wrapped if with pink metalize foil (you can also use a fun printed tissue paper). Last was the bow to tie it all together…no pun intended.
My niece loved it. She came out to say hi before the performance and was trying to peak to see what I had brought her. I know she wouldn’t have been as interested if it were just flowers. Enjoy.
